  FIRE AND OTHER EMERGENCIES

We practice Fire Drill at least once a Term and discuss it with all new members who
join in between times.  It's part of Being Prepared!

This is also a Life Skill and no matter where you are it is always good to know how
to get out of a building without using the lift especially somewhere new or unfamiliar,
like a hotel, or in the middle of the night when it it dark.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES

On discovering an emergency, such as fire,

your first responsibility is to preserve life

                                       ·        If a Guide - inform the nearest leader

                                       ·        If a Leader sound the alarm and begin evacuation

On hearing the alarm

                                       ·        Leave the building immediately - by nearest exit and go straight to Assembly Point

The ASSEMBLY POINT is the car-park

outside the hall unless directed elsewhere

Leader in-charge

  • Check the building is cleared - including toilets, back room, kitchen
  • Collect the register and emergency contact details - for all Guides and Adults
  • Evacuate the building - then call the Emergency Services
  • Once evacuated confirm all persons are present

Any people missing must be reported to the emergency services immediately

Do NOT re-enter the building - for any reason, until told it is safe
